The site is part of a news network launched in 2007 by a group of mountain journalist who sought a new way forward for journalism in the new-media era. David O. Williams and Tom Boyd took their decades-long experience in community journalism and used this to create a content-rich, informative, and personal online representation of the mountain towns they’d come to know and love.
After six years learning the ins and outs of online media, and scraping by during a difficult recession, the Rocky Mountain Post and its sister sites, RealAspen.com and RealVail.com, are re-launching under a new business model.

One of the simplest ways to support journalism today is to support advertising sponsors. Are you heading to REI to buy some winter gear? Why not click through our ad banner and make your purchase there?
Tell a friend, spread the word, and help us grow. Clicking through and making your purchase helps fund the hard work and thoughtful effort that goes into producing news that matters to people in the Intermountain West. Thank you for your support.
